One-grip controls

All important functions such as cold and hot start, operation and stop are managed easily and conveniently with a single control. The work becomes simple and convenient while increasing safety.

 

Chain tension from the side

On almost all STIHL chainsaws (MS 170 exception) the chain is tensioned on the side of the saw at a safe distance from the sharp cutting teeth. Turn off the chainsaw and loosen the screws on the chain drive cover. Tension the chain using a screwdriver on the chain tensioner while gently pulling on the chain with the other hand. Simple and safe.

 

Compensator

STIHL compensator, a control system in the carburettor, which ensures that the fuel-air mixture is always optimal in relation to how dirty the filter is. The compensator provides optimal effect with low emissions. Only when you get a clear power drop is it time to clean the filter. Filter cleaning intervals are significantly extended.

 

Long-term air filter system with pre-filtration

The air is sucked into a flywheel and set into rotation. Centrifugal force hurls the larger and heavier dirt particles out with the help of a ramp. The air that reaches the air filter has thus already gone through a purification process. The filter cleaning intervals thus become very long.

 

Primer

With the manual fuel pump, gasoline is pumped into the carburetor with a few simple thumb presses. You no longer have to pull the starter rope to get petrol to the carburettor. There is no risk of overfilling as all excess petrol flows back into the tank.

 

STIHL 2-MIX engine

STIHL's fuel-efficient 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4 channel technology is very powerful and has enormous pulling power, while fuel consumption is up to 20% lower compared to equivalent STIHL 2-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology. In addition, emissions are reduced by up to 50%. It complies with the European exhaust gas directive EU II.

 

STIHL anti-vibration system

A person who is exposed to vibrations for a long time, from e.g. a motor tool, can cause disturbances in the blood circulation in the hands and arms. STIHL's highly effective anti-vibration system absorbs the dangerous vibrations from the engine and cutting equipment in precisely calculated buffer zones, and the machine becomes comfortable and ergonomic to work with.

 

STIHL Ematic chain lubrication

STIHL's Ematic-System consists of the Ematic bar, the Oilomatic saw chain and a manually or automatically adjustable oil pump. The special construction of the bar and chain means that the chain oil ends up where it is most needed without any losses. Oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50%.

 

Tank cap with bayonet mount

Patented special sealing of the petrol and oil tank. The lid has a bayonet mount that makes it incredibly easy and convenient to both open and close without tools.

 

Winter/summer operation

STIHL chainsaws with carburettor heating can also be trusted in the cold season: When set to winter operation, the carburettor is surrounded by preheated air. In this way, ice formation in the carburettor is prevented. A simple handshake is enough to change between summer or winter operation.
